I've noticed that a lot of the things I like to do now are things that I will probably enjoying doing when I'm eighty. So it goes.

No Happy Ending

Yes, it's true. The wedding is less than a month away! I'm not sure how I would get everything done that needs to get done if I had a job, so I applaud the ladies who did it. Got back from Syracuse Wednesday. My mom's friends and my aunt threw me an awesome bridal shower. It was a positively gorgeous day, the food was delicious, the mimosas were yummy and best of all, I got to see my family, my mom's friends, my friends and my friends' moms. I felt very loved. Being home was great. I loved spending time with my mom and I finally got to meet my nephew, Declan. Fiona is still the sweetest girl on the planet - I could not love her more. I also visited Brittney at the high school and watched her teach and bought a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the cafeteria. The whole time I went to school there I never bought one and now I know why - they put way too much peanut butter in it. I also visited a family whose kids I babysat for years. And it's been years since I last saw them. They are such an incredible family. I really miss them. Time flew by and I didn't get to do everything I wanted - no ice cream at Friendly's or shopping at the Salvation Army, but I did go to Wegmans three times.

The invitations are out! Well, most of them are. We have a couple stragglers that will get out in the next couple days. We can't wait to get the RSVPs back! We're eager to see who can come AND to see how creative people are with their responses.

I have only two more days left at Nickelodeon. I don't think it's really set in yet. I'm too excited right now to think that being unemployed tends to be kind of stressful. It will just be so nice to have time to plan the wedding, visit my family and friends in Syracuse and enjoy this time in my life. When we get back from the honeymoon it's time for me to really think about what I want to do next. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be happy to hear them.

Two months to the day

Two months. Whoa. Things are going great with us, although I would like to put it out there that planning a wedding is stressful! I try to roll with it and not sweat the small stuff, but easier said than done, my faithful blog readers. I know that everything will work out and the day will be fantastic, I just have to remember that when something goes wrong! :)

The invitations are being made this week, so hopefully you will see them in your mailboxes next week! We are off to Santa Barbara this weekend to meet with our officiant. She wants to get to know us some more so that our ceremony is personal. It will be nice to see Santa Barbara again, too. It's so pretty there - I can't wait for everyone to see it!

74 Days

I can't believe the wedding is 74 days away. Yes, I count the days - I'm excited! And nervous. I'm trying to get everything done that I can before it gets too crazy.

It looks like we have the final design for the invitations. It was a collaborative effort and we're both really happy with the end result. With any luck, we'll have them out by the end of the month.

Thursday morning we're off to my cousin's wedding in North Carolina. It will be nice to get away for a few days and we're excited to see a part of the country that we've never been to. And my family! I can't wait to see my wonderful family.

Laura - mute it!

I couldn't have asked for a better bachelorette party weekend! Well, I guess it would've been better if Brittney came - we sure missed her. It was fun, though...very very fun. Laura, Tiffany and Jen are probably the most generous, caring and fun bridesmaids in the history of bridesmaids. The research I have done supports this.

We started off in New York on Thursday morning. Laura and I were welcomed to Tiffany's apartment with a basket of goodies and homemade cupcakes. Tiffany is quite the hostess (no pun intended) and quite the cook. I'm not sure if you knew that. Laura and I were super tired from our red-eye flights, so Laura made me an egg sandwich and then we passed out for a while. When we finally woke up, we headed out to do some shopping. I bought a pair of jeans that I wore everyday of the trip. True story. For dinner, the girls took me to my favorite restaurant in New York called Artisanal. I ate lots of cheese and it was delicious. After dinner it was time to dance, so we headed to a bar. It was close to empty, which was good because it gave Laura and I plenty of room to dance and chase each other around. It kind of smelled like a basement, but in a good way. After dancing it was time to sing, so we headed to Chinatown to Tiffany's favorite karaoke bar. Wouldn't you know - Jesus was there! We sang and I did my own rendition of Careless Whisper, which I dedicated to my friends. We got home and Tiffany made me pancakes and then they sent me to bed where I called Brandon nine times.

The next morning was not a pleasant experience for my body, but as the day went on I all started to feel better. We took the train to the Hamptons and found our adorable bed and breakfast. Our room was huge and really cute. The bathroom shower attacked Laura, but other than that it was really nice. The girls took me to dinner at a restaurant that was recommended to Jen. Turned out many people consider it to be the nicest restaurant in Southampton. She is a very in-the-know lady. The food was seriously delicious. Jen had to leave early the next morning, so it was just me and Laura and Tiff for the rest of the weekend. It wasn't beach weather, but it was a nice change from the heat wave happening in LA. We walked around town and had lunch. Tiffany and I had lobster rolls and Laura had - what else - a tuna sandwich. I have never seen anyone eat so much tuna in my life. We went to another great restaurant on Saturday night and took the packed train back to New York on Sunday afternoon.

It was truly one of the most fun weekends of my life and I will never forget it. I am so lucky to have such amazing best friends. Leaving was bittersweet - I was sad to leave, but I was also excited to see Brandon. And Fuji. And maybe Chico.

Looking for things to do

My job is a bit slow right now. I try to pass the time constructively, but it's not easy. A week of passing time is easy, five months is not. The novelty has worn off. Yesterday I discovered the genius of YouTube. I watched an entire episide of Fifteen and today I searched around for a while and found some interesting clips. The best one was a fairly raunchy outake reel of 'Full House.' I would be there now, but the volume doesn't seem to be working. For a while there I was into crossword puzzles and even attempted to create my own. At least three times a day I play Alchemy on Yahoo! Games. So far my highest score is 14819 - Alchemist 2nd Class. I've been able to plan most of the wedding and the honeymoon with this time, which is probably the only good thing about this job. That and the paycheck, which although small, helps pay the bills. I've bought and returned many, many pairs of shoes from Zappos and have purchased the occasional pair of jeans and a few shirts from different websites. I frequent lots of different websites throughout the day for news and recipes and reviews. I make a lot of lists and update my calendar everyday. I also have a secret project that I'm working on, but even that is almost finished.

I'm starting to think that maybe I should start reading. I felt kind of weird about it before, but now maybe I don't care so much. If you have any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing them.
